Statement from Sarah Peterson: “This is a hard post for me, 5 days after my grandma passed my sweet grandpa joined her. 😢 I loved my grandpa so very much, I was a grandpas girl and he will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️ Grandpa was in the hospital and our goal was to get him home so he could pass on his beloved Alki Beach, we succeeded! I got to stay at their home with him And got to spend Saturday morning alone with him, with the beach door open so he could smell the sea air and hear the waves and seagulls. I held his hand and just talked to him for more than an hour, it is a memory I will cherish forever ❤️ My grandpa passed Peacefully surrounded by his grandchildren and one of his sons, 29 hours after arriving home and only 2 hours after being told my grandma has passed, once he knew she was waiting for him, he let go! In those 29 hours, he had many friends and family
Visit him and call him, he would smile, letting us know he knew who was there, that he loved us to and even little chuckles ❤️

My grandpa was always so full of life, quite the story teller and opera singer 😂 smart, he was an engineer, he designed the West Seattle bridge and was the mayor of a town in Alaksa, he was so funny, handsome and loved by everyone, especially the ladies 😂 we joke tucker is his mini me! My grandpa was passionate about so many things, especially sailing, his beloved Vashon Island, where he was raised and being a wonderful grandpa and great grandpa ❤️ a lot my fondest childhood memories involve my grandparents and their home on Alki!! Grandpa taught me how to row and sail a boat, taught me and my cousin how to drive a car, brave man and all things you need to know to have fun on Alki Beach!! Their presence will always be on Alki, but it sure won’t be the same, I will miss them So very much”😢
